Our Club is working in partnership with The Val Verde Community Center to mentor a group of young ladies ages 7-17. On a monthly basis, we provide fun or educational activities like a book club meeting, coaching for education/career goals, trips for cultural art exposure, self-defense workshops and beauty days. Future program content will be based on what needs are determined through group interaction. Would you like more information about this program or support by being a sponsor? Please contact us.

LIVE YOUR DREAM- Education Award
Formerly known as the Women’s Opportunity Award, this program is an award to celebrate women who have faced severe hardships, preventing them from pursuing and achieving their educational or professional goals. They are the primary source of financial responsibility for their families and are enrolled in or have been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program. The women receiving these cash awards of up to $1500 may use them for any costs associated with their educational efforts, including tuition, books, child care, and transportation. We will begin accepting applications for our 2018 Awards in September. Deadline is November 15th 2017. Click here for the application. For questions contact firstname.lastname@example.org
JACQUIE PETERSEN Award
In honor of Jacquie Petersen, SIGSCV created the Jacquie Petersen Endowment and Award which acknowledges and rewards young girls for their demonstrated passion, by following their dreams and pursuing a career in dance. We believe by creating this award we can help to further their education and acknowledge that dance is a wonderful form of expression and a true art. With any art, there must be a commitment and this sometimes involves a financial commitment. Based on criteria and process, our goal is to reach out to the local community of young girls and provide some monetary support. Through this award, we will allow the dreams of a young girl to possibly become a ballerina. Applications and nominations are completed by local dance school instructors until January 15th 2018.
HANDS ON SERVICE DAYS
We engage in several “hands-on” projects in our local area. On behalf of Mending Kids International, SIGSCV creates hand-tied blankets. In the past over 400 SIGSCV blankets have been delivered to Ethiopia, Cambodia, Haiti, Guatemala, China, Christmas Island, Ecuador, and Nicaragua. Other recent service days included the donation of 40 Comfort Bags to welcome City of Hope at their new Chemo Treatment Center in Santa Clarita. Follow us on social media to get updates on our future activities.
